Model characteristics
The RID model is a double knockout mouse(Rag2& Il2rg) with complete immunodeficient phenotype. The model was created by genome scissors (CRISPR/Cas9) in Jun 9th, 2016. This mouse has a deficiency in T, B, and NK cells and shows reduced leakiness compared to SCID mice. Importantly, RID mice show less radiosenstivity compared to SID and SCID mice.
-
Advantages
Immunodeficient phenotype enhances tumor cell acceptance and mostly can be used in PDX models and humanized mice. RID mouse shows radio-resistant properties compared to NSG mice thus those mice can be utilized in the research for radiation oncology. Irradiation dose limit are approximately 5.5 Gy. RID mice are available with low cost and fast delivery due to the domestic breeding.
